This striking print of a pressed Taro leaf (Colocasia esculenta) is one of my favorites! The simple lines, vibrant green, and fine detail of the leaf make it an eye catching addition to any indoor space. I created this print from a taro leaf I collected in Maui, Hawaii. This is a high resolution scan of the original leaf, printed on natural (ivory) cotton rag fine art paper with archival inks.
Taro is believed to be one of the earliest cultivated plants, and is grown for its edible, starchy roots. It was considered a sacred plant to the native Hawaiian settlers, who knew it as "kalo", and was a central part of their diet and culture.
